Title: Assistant District Attorney – Appeals

Location: Putnam County, NY

Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 commensurate with experience

The Putnam County District Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for a full time Assistant District Attorney. Duties and responsibilities include the preparation of appellate briefs from judgments of conviction and decisions adverse to the prosecution, participation in oral arguments before state appellate courts, responding to post-conviction motions to vacate judgments of conviction and set aside sentences, and prosecuting felony or misdemeanor cases out of an assigned local court.

Candidates must possess good knowledge of criminal law and appellate court procedures; ability to perform legal research and prepare written documents/briefs; ability to express arguments of the law by written and spoken word. Residency will need to be established in the 9^th Judicial District. All applicants should include a writing sample(s) with their resume. 

Qualifications: Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.
