Art comes in many forms, music, theatre, painting, sculptures. In Putnam, we embrace art & culture and encourage the arts to strive in our community.

Magazzino Italian Arts
A nonprofit museum and research center is dedicated to advancing scholarship and public appreciation of postwar and contemporary Italian art in the United States. Magazzino serves as an advocate for Italian artists as it celebrates the range of their creative practices from Arte Povera to the present.

Manitoga / The Russel Wright Design Center 
Visit Manitoga, the House, Studio and Woodland Garden of pioneer industrial designer, Russel Wright (1904-1976), envisioned with his wife Mary Einstein Wright (d. 1952) for their family. Experience Dragon Rock, the experimental home which Wright built onto the rock ledge of an abandoned quarry while masterfully orchestrating the surrounding landscape into a series of outdoor rooms of varying character and delight.

Hudson Valley Shakespeare
Located eighty minutes north of Manhattan, Hudson Valley Shakespeare (HVS) is a professional non-profit theater company that presents a rotating repertory season of both Shakespeare and more contemporary plays and musicals in an open-air theater overlooking the Hudson River.

Garrison Art Center
Garrison Art Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit arts & education organization. Since its founding, the Garrison Art Center has become a vital community resource that actively promotes the arts and arts education in the Hudson Valley. Annually, the GAC hosts ten exhibitions in their galleries, featuring solo, juried, students, and member shows that showcase over 600 emerging, mid-careers, and established regional artists.

• Tompkins Corner Cultural Center
The Tompkins Corners Cultural Center is a nonprofit organization formed in 2014, located in the historic Tompkins Corners Methodist Church in Putnam Valley, NY.  Their mission is to preserve the historic Tompkins Corners Church and to promote and develop community and cultural interest through the arts and cultural activities open to the public. The culture center holds events throughout the year; concerts, lectures and poetry reading.

Putnam Arts Council (PAC)
The Putnam Arts Council (PAC) is a not-for-profit arts service organization chartered in 1963 by the State of New York. PAC is the voice for the arts in Putnam County, and maintains a leadership role in promoting, fostering, and perpetuating the visual, performing and literary arts in the county. Their programs include exhibitions, Art in Public Places, workshops in the visual and performing arts, a summer arts program, concerts, theatre performances, advocacy, technical assistance workshops, studio tours and special events.

Cultural Arts Coalition (CAC)
​A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated to creating and sustaining cultural arts for the Town of Southeast and surrounding region. CAC’s space Studio Around the Corner on the lowest level of Old Town Hall showcases area artists and hosts a wide variety of cultural events and programs for the surrounding communities in Putnam, Westchester, Dutchess, and Fairfield counties. The space is also available for artists, non-profits, and other community members to use.

The Chapel Restoration
On the banks of the Hudson River, in the heart of the Highlands opposite West Point, The Chapel Restoration is a national historic landmark, built in 1833 in the Greek Revival style.  Fifty miles north of New York City, across from Metro North Railroad Station and within walking distance of the charming 19th century village of Cold Spring, the Chapel Restoration hosts the renowned Sunday Music Series and Sunset Reading Series.

Arts on the Lake
Arts on the Lake is a non-profit corporation that fosters performances, exhibits and art classes in Kent, NY. They have an ongoing series of classes for adults and children, as well as musical performances of classical, jazz, pop and rock.

Brewster Theater Company
The Brewster Theater Company is a volunteer run, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that holds high quality productions throughout the year.

Putnam Chorale
The Putnam Chorale, under the artistic direction of composer/conductor Dr. Jason Tramm, is the sole county-wide community chorus in Putnam County, NY. It has been entertaining and educating Westchester/ Putnam/Dutchess audiences since 1984 by providing high quality choral and orchestral music and academic commentary. Chorale concert performances are in December and April.

Putnam Symphony Orchestra
​The Putnam Symphony Orchestra comprises musicians from the community and surrounding areas of Putnam County. Each year, Putnam Symphony Orchestra delights in performing a holiday concert, and again in the spring, where they play pieces of all levels and interests.

Philipstown Depot Theatre
​The Philipstown Depot Theatre is a unique community-based performing arts center that connects families and individuals in the Hudson River Valley with the best in high-caliber affordable theater, music and films. The theater entertains, educates and informs audiences with its programs and productions administered in partnership with the Town of Philipstown Recreation Department.
