DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is responsible technical work of a moderately complex nature, involving accountability for the receipt and disbursement of money and the maintenance of financial accounts and related records. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures, in accordance with the standards set forth in all applicable sections of New York State Education Law, including but not limited to sections 1720, 1905 and 2130. Work is performed under the supervision of the School District Treasurer. General direction is provided by the local Board of Education. Performs related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)
Receives and prepares deposits of monies from all appropriate sources in duly designated banks;
Monitors and checks bank balances on a daily basis, and reconciles bank statements as needed;
Signs authorized checks for the school district;
Transmits check issue files;
Creates, initiates and facilitates electronic payroll files;
Processes transfers for weekly warrants and payroll;
Facilitates and processes paperwork and funding for bonds and bond anticipation notes (BANs);
Calculates funding;
Transfers funds and releases wires;
Calculates, reconciles and pays New York State sales tax;
Prepares and maintains records of reports to the Board of Education;
Performs a variety of related activities as required.
