Masterpieces Galore!
Quite a few personal masterpieces were created last Monday night as nearly two dozen volunteers from Putnam County’s Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and members of the health department’s Board of Health gathered at Hudson Valley InterArts (HVI) in Patterson. The “MRC Arts & Eats” featured dinner and a guided painting session. It was organized by the health department in collaboration with their partners at the InterArts center to thank the volunteers for their commitment and service. The MRC, which recently marked two decades of service to Putnam County residents, plays a vital role not just in times of emergency, but at other events for residents throughout the year. Hudson Valley InterArts (HVI) hosted the evening’s festivities and provided the expertise of one of their painting instructors.
HVI offers a cornucopia of classes, open to participants from all walks of life, skill level and ability. The wide variety of artistic endeavors include ceramics, painting, digital arts, music production, yoga and Zumba…and much, much more. A full listing of classes along with a video tour of their facility is available on the InterArts website.
Hudson Valley InterArts also is the site of the health department’s Early Learning Center which opened this fall to offer a fully inclusive model of preschool education supported by Universal Pre-Kindergarten, known as the UPK curriculum, while improving service delivery provided to “differently-abled” students and their families.
