Notice of Public Comment Period for Revisions to Putnam County’s Local Solid Waste Management Plan
Notice is hereby given that Putnam County is revising the Putnam County Local Solid Waste Management Plan. The purpose of this revision is to update the existing LSWMP as well as maintain alignment with NYS Department of Environmental Conservation requirements. The plan was originally released in 1992 and updated in 2012. There have been significant changes in solid waste management since 2012, and the plan has been updated to reflect those changes. The public comment period will end on December 31, 2025.
The newest version of the Putnam County Local Solid Waste Management Plan (LSWMP) will be presented on November 18 at the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The LSWMP is a roadmap for the handling of solid waste and recycling in Putnam County. It includes a plan for reducing waste overall in the county along with other recycling and recovery initiatives over the next 10 years.
Following the presentation, which will also be available through the County’s YouTube Channel, the Public Comment Period will be open through December 31, 2025. Residents who would like to submit comments can do so at the following website: www.putnamcountyny.gov/health/recycle.
