CARMEL, NY – Earlier this week, Bob Cuomo began his second stint as the Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for Putnam County. Cuomo returns to this pivotal role with a wealth of experience and an unmatched dedication to serving the community. He previously held the position from 1997 to 2018 and is poised to lead the county's EMS agencies into the future.
County Executive Kevin Byrne expressed confidence in Cuomo's abilities, stating, "Bob Cuomo's return as the Director of EMS is a testament to his unwavering commitment to public safety and emergency response. His leadership will ensure that Putnam County continues to deliver high-quality emergency medical services to our residents."
With a career spanning over four decades in emergency medical services, Cuomo began as an EMT and paramedic in 1978. His extensive experience and institutional knowledge make him uniquely qualified to oversee Putnam County's EMS agencies and educational programs.
Bureau of Emergency Services Commissioner Bob Lipton welcomed back Cuomo highlighting his proven track record and dedication to the community. "Bob Cuomo's return brings a steady hand to our EMS operations. We have confidence that he’ll be instrumental in maintaining the high standards of care that our residents deserve," said Lipton.
Cuomo himself expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Putnam County once again. "It is an honor to return to this role and continue serving the residents of Putnam County," said Cuomo. "I am committed to ensuring that the individuals providing life-saving in the field treatment are well-equipped, highly trained, and ready to respond to any emergency situation."
In his new position, Cuomo will be responsible for the oversight of county EMS agencies, EMS education programs, and various training initiatives. His leadership promises to uphold the county's commitment to providing timely and effective emergency medical services to its residents.
