Know Your Risk
The CDC’s Tick Bite Data Tracker shows information from all over the country to help people see when and where they are at highest risk for tick bites.
Grasp the tick as close to the skin's surface as possible.
Pull upward with steady, even pressure.
Thoroughly clean the bite area and your hands.
If a fragment of the mouth parts is left behind, leave it alone to heal. This is not a risk for disease transmission. Once the tick is removed, do not crush it with your fingers. Dispose of a live tick by placing it in a sealed container in the garbage.
