The Putnam County Traffic Safety Board is a coalition of law enforcement, local officials, highway departments, education, health and service agencies and individuals committed to ensuring that our streets, sidewalks, and residents remain safe and secure. With the expertise each member brings, the board looks to evaluate and recommend programs that deal with traffic safety, injury prevention and reducing the numbers of injuries, fatalities, and related economic issues for all Putnam County highway users.
Hosting road construction meeting and training to work with and help companies that work on roadways for safety.
One of the most successful program the Putnam County Traffic Safety Board was the emergency detour signs for the Taconic State Parkway. This program was the pilot program for similar programs in New York State. Discussions at the meetings may include program briefings, goal setting, suggestions for future programs, or any other issues the members want to include.
