The Putnam County Department of Health is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Public Health Nurse.
This is a Competitive position under New York State Civil Service Law. Applicants must apply for and participate in an examination of Training and Experience.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: This is professional nursing work involving assessment of health needs, development of plan of care, and provision of health/wellness education for individuals and families. Responsibilities include periodic re‑evaluation of individual and family as well as support of community nursing needs. Work may be performed at patients’ homes or in clinic settings. Special work duty outside of normal work hours (such as on holidays or weekends) may be required. Work is performed under general supervision of higher level Health Department staff. Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*: Bachelors degree in nursing
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Possession of a license and current registration issued by New York State to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse at the time of appointment.
- Access to transportation may be required to complete possible field work assignments in a timely and efficient manner.

SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday – Friday
SALARY: $80,116 – $83,981 per year

SUBJECT OF EXAMINATION: As this is a T & E (Training & Experience) Examination, the only examination will be an evaluation of your experience, education and licensure.
