BROOKLYN MAN TO SERVE FOUR YEARS IN STATE PRISON
CARMEL, NEW YORK – July 10, 2026 – Putnam County District Attorney Robert
V. Tendy announced 46-year-old Michael Carroll, of Brooklyn, NY, will serve four years in prison followed by two years post-release supervision after pleading guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree and one count of Bail Jumping in the Third Degree, Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy announced today.
On March 8, 2021, a Deputy with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office observed Carroll operating a vehicle on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Putnam Valley while committing multiple traffic infractions. The Deputy conducted a traffic stop and asked Carroll for identification at which time Carroll gave a fake name and date of birth. A subsequent search of Carroll’s car revealed that he was trafficking over 1,500 methamphetamine pills and pill fragments weighing over two ounces.
After failing to appear in Putnam Valley Court on March 23, 2021, Carroll was indicted for Bail Jumping in the Second Degree. He was eventually located and arrested on September 16, 2025.
DA Tendy said, “1,500 meth pills and a lot of pill fragments. He may have been splitting them up for sale purposes. Just really dangerous stuff. When he was arrested in 2021, he never came back to court and a warrant was issued. Fortunately, we got him back. Fantastic job by the Putnam County Sheriff’s office for the initial arrest and then tracking him down. Also, great job by First Assistant DA Breanne Smith, who prosecuted the cases.
Carroll has numerous prior arrests and felony convictions.
