PAWLING MAN FOUND GUILTY OF DWI AND RESISTING ARREST
CARMEL, NEW YORK – August 6, 2025 – Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy announced today that Joshua Praino, 40, of Pawling, was found guilty of Driving While Intoxicated and Resisting Arrest following a jury trial that concluded on August 1, 2025, before the Honorable Judge Gregory Folchetti.
Praino was arrested on September 3, 2023, after New York State Police observed his vehicle driving erratically on State Route 22 in the Town of Southeast. Upon initiating a traffic stop, troopers identified the driver as Joshua Praino and noted several signs of intoxication, including glassy eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol. A subsequent investigation determined that Praino was under the influence of alcohol and unfit to operate a motor vehicle safely.
When troopers attempted to place Praino under arrest, he refused to comply with verbal commands, tensed his body, and physically resisted being handcuffed by struggling and holding onto the push bar of the patrol vehicle.
Sentencing in this matter is scheduled for October 9, 2025.
“Don’t drink and drive, it’s that simple,” stated DA Tendy. “If you are arrested for Driving while intoxicated you’ll be prosecuted and held accountable.” Tendy thanked the New York State Police for their dedication to keeping drunk drivers off our roads in Putnam County and the Jury for their service on this case.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Mackenzie Ferguson and Nicole Camillone.
