Diary of a Horse Skeptic - May 2023
Dear Diary,
WOW! WOW! So excited Diary! I have been selected to go on Honor Flight. Yes that is right this May I will be on Honor Flight to Washington DC. Can you believe it???? It is like Christmas-my birthday-the Fourth of July all wrapped up in one day. Its like going to a presentation of the Nutcracker and being allow to sleep through the entire thing! WOW!WOW!
Diary do you get that I am excited? Will have to get up at zero dark thirty to get to the Westchester Airport. They will have a send off ceremony for us prior to boarding the plane. There will be busses waiting for us when we get to DC. We tour the three major monuments-WW II, Korea and Vietnam. Then a group picture in front to the Lincoln Memorial. Back on the busses to Arlington Cemetery where we will be able to watch the changing of the guard-then a tour of Arlington. At the end of that we are taken to a near by hotel for a dinner and the back to Westchester Airport. Long day but exciting!
We also have a meet and greet with all the Veterans going on this Honor Flight along with the escorts. Yes Diary each Veteran has an escort called a guardian. My guardian will be my friend Megan Castellano. So cool! Another friend Steve Seid will also be on the flight. His two son’s will be with him one as his guardian and the other will be the guardian another Veteran. Another great day leading up to Page 2the Honor Flight! We get to meet and
greet the Veterans and the Guardians
and the Staff of Honor Flight.
So Diary at each step along the way to this amazing adventure I will tell you all about it.
Karl
PS I still wish you horses!
