Pathway Through History - Putnam County
Pathway Through History weekend in New York is next weekend (October 12th- 14th), which showcases New York State's fascinating history.
In Putnam County, I LOVE NY has featured three events.
1) Brewster's Barn Quilt Trail
Date(s): October 12, 2024 - October 14, 2024
Location: Tilly Foster Farm [100 Route 312, Brewster, NY]
The history of the American Barn Quilt can be traced back almost 300 years, with early homesteads creating decorative yet distinctive quilt patterns to display on their barns and help travelers navigate. Brewster’s Barn Quilt Trail features student designs based on historic and contemporary agricultural sites within the school district in Putnam County, NY.

2) Indigenous Peoples in Putnam County, Children's Exhibition Viewing & Craft
Date(s): October 12, 2024
Location: Putnam History Museum [63 Chestnut Street, Cold Spring, NY]
Families are encouraged to bring their children to see the Indigenous Peoples in Putnam County exhibition at the Putnam History Museum. Using a self-guided, children-friendly exhibition tour booklet, adults can guide children through the exhibition with engaging prompts and activities. Visitors will also have the opportunity to make and decorate pinch-pots.

3) Gardens & Grounds Tours
Date(s): October 11, 2024 - October 13, 2024
Location: Boscobel House and Gardens [1601 Route 9D, Garrison, NY]
This 45-minute walking tour, given by our expert Museum Guides, includes details of our 68 acres of pollinator-friendly gardens, "Reclaimed Resilience" exhibition, and lush grounds overlooking the Hudson River and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
