Byrne Holds Latest Constituent Forum in Mahopac
CARMEL, NY - This morning Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne continued his commitment to transparency and accessibility by hosting a “Coffee with the County Executive” forum at Dana’s Diner in Mahopac. The gathering drew numerous residents eager to discuss their concerns, ask questions, and share feedback directly with the County Executive.
Question-and-answer topics included congestion pricing, updates on new capital projects, the county sales tax, agricultural issues, neglected properties with back taxes, and more. The casual atmosphere of the event allowed for meaningful one-on-one conversations, fostering a stronger connection between county leadership and the community it serves.
This marks the second open constituent forum hosted by Byrne in 2025, building on the momentum of a successful 2024 in which he fulfilled his campaign pledge, for the second consecutive year, to hold town-hall-style listening sessions in every town across Putnam County. These forums took on a variety of formats, including “Coffee with the County Executive,” “Trailblazing with Byrne” nature walks along county trailways, virtual online discussions, and even a first-of-its-kind Budget Town Hall Forum at Carmel Town Hall.
“Speaking directly with residents is one of the most important aspects of this job,” said County Executive Byrne. “These forums provide a platform to address concerns, answer questions, and share updates about county initiatives. Hearing from our residents helps us make better, more informed decisions.”
Legislator Erin Lee Crowley, who also attended the event and herself spoke with numerous concerned residents, shared her appreciation for the commitment to transparency by Byrne. “Forums like these demonstrate that there are people in Putnam County government who make themselves available and truly listen to the voices of Putnam County residents,” said Crowley. “It’s refreshing to see such genuine and consistent engagement with the people we represent and were elected to serve.”
Byrne’s commitment to open dialogue and accessibility has set a new standard for constituent engagement in Putnam County, and today’s forum in Mahopac is yet another example of his dedication to keeping government transparent and responsive.

Welcome Message
“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M.
