County Executive Kevin Byrne Joined by Legislator Montgomery for Cold Spring Library Town Hall
CARMEL, NY - Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne was joined by County Legislator Nancy Montgomery (District 1) at the Julia L. Butterfield Memorial Library ("Butterfield Library") in Cold Spring for Byrne's latest stop on his "Talking in the Library" Summertime series of open forums and resident Q-and-As. Byrne and Montgomery discussed a range of local and countywide issues with constituents in the 100-year-old library's Main Room. There was no registration required to attend the free hourlong event.
“Thank you to all those who dropped by this event for a thoughtful exchange of ideas and updates on county policies,” said Byrne. “As I said in my State of the County address in March, greater transparency builds more confidence in our institutions and helps us serve you better. Legislator Montgomery and I don't always agree, but we have agreed to disagree civilly. Today's forum was another example why sunlight remains the best disinfectant toward more open and effective local government."
"I am grateful to County Executive Byrne for hosting this opportunity for the people of Cold Spring to hear from their representatives and ask us questions. From livestreaming county legislative meetings to soliciting community input to hosting regular town-hall-style forums, I am committed to transparency as an essential ingredient to our democracy," said Montgomery.
This latest round of constituent forums comes on the heels of “Trailblazing with Byrne" events hosted in each of Putnam County's six towns during the month of May. Prior to this, Byrne delivered his State of the County address to local audiences at each of the county’s four senior centers in April as well as a "Coffee with Kevin" town-hall-style stop at Dana’s Diner in Mahopac. All events were free and open to the public. A list of Byrne's upcoming summer "Talking in the Library" events are below:
Mahopac Public Library: July 7, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Welcome Message
“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M.
