Putnam County Youth Bureau Seeking Nominations for Youth Awards
Nominations close November 15, awarded at Youth Awards Dinner on April 10, 2025 https://putnamcountyny.gov/youth-bureau
CARMEL, NY – The Putnam County Youth Bureau, in partnership with the Putnam County Youth Board, is still seeking nominees in its search for outstanding young volunteers and adult mentors to be honored at the 40th Annual Youth Awards Dinner. The Putnam County Youth Bureau is now accepting nominations for high school students and an adult candidate for the James F. Reitz Award. Community members can submit nominations through Friday, November 15, 2024. Volunteer work that benefits the Putnam community and surrounding areas will be considered.
Every year, the Youth Awards Dinner recognizes exceptional high school students for their positive contributions as role models and volunteers in the community. In addition, the James F. Reitz Award will be presented to an adult volunteer who has shown extraordinary commitment to working with and inspiring youth.
“We are incredibly proud of the young people and adults who go above and beyond to make a difference in our communities,” said Putnam County Youth Bureau Director Janeen Cunningham. “Each volunteer brings unique talents and a sense of hope and optimism to those around them. The Youth Awards Dinner is a special opportunity to shine a spotlight on their selflessness and dedication, and we need the community’s help to find and honor these outstanding individuals.”
Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne also emphasized the importance of community involvement, saying, “Our community is made stronger by individuals who dedicate their time to serving others, and the annual Youth Awards Dinner gives us the chance to recognize their meaningful contributions. These young leaders and mentors are an inspiration, and I encourage everyone to help us identify those deserving of these prestigious honors.”
This milestone event, set for Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Putnam County Golf Course, celebrates youth and adult volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to bettering Putnam County and surrounding communities.

Welcome Message
“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M.
