‘Trailblazing with Byrne’ Completes Countywide Run

04 June 2025

CARMEL, NY – County Executive Kevin Byrne today announced another successful round of "Trailblazing with Byrne" forums were completed in each of Putnam County's six towns during the month of May. The final event took place in Putnam Valley on May 30 at the town's Leonard Wagner Memorial Park. “Trailblazing” comes on the heels of Byrne delivering his March 3 State of the County address to local audiences at each of the county’s four senior centers in April as well as a "Coffee with the County Executive" town-hall-style discussion held at Dana’s Diner on January 29. All events were free and open to the public.

To watch the first "Trailblazing with Byrne" event at the county-operated Veterans Memorial Park in Kent, visit Putnam County's YouTube page. Among other topics, Byrne answered questions about his administration's historic compromise with all nine towns and villages to share the county portion of sales-tax revenue starting on December 1, 2025, clearing the way for the largest property-tax cut in Putnam County history.

“When I ran for county executive, I pledged to continue my constituent-engagement opportunities while in office. I have kept that promise, and I'm excited to add more opportunities for residents to personally participate in their local government,” said Byrne. “As I said in my State of the County address in March, greater transparency builds more confidence in our institutions and helps us serve you better. Stay tuned to join us for more constituent question-and-answer forums this summer."

Welcome Message

“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M.
