Welcome to Putnam County Small Business Spotlight where we will be highlighting small businesses in our community.

[* The Small Business Spotlight segment will only feature businesses that target Tourism Visitor Spending which falls under the following categories: Food & Beverage, Retail, Lodging and Recreation/Entertainment. *]
Lindsey Benoit O’Connell was an editor at several large New York City magazines more than a decade ago when she began experiencing stress due to the grind of her position.
O’Connell ended up having an anxiety attack, which would serve as a life-changing moment for the mother from Carmel. O’Connell utilized meditation to recover and find peace. As it turns out, she found another calling.
O’Connell became a certified meditation teacher and now operates The Lab Wellness and Elevate Mindfully in Putnam County.
“Meditation saved my life,” O’Connell said. “When I started the company, I wanted to truly help people. I want to help people find calm and peace. It is OK to take a break.”
O’Connell is also a reiki master, breathwork facilitator and sound healer. Sound healing (also called sound therapy or sound medicine) is a holistic practice that uses sound vibrations to support physical, emotional, and mental well-being. The core idea is that sound frequencies can influence the body and mind by promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and helping restore a sense of balance.
O’Connell combines science-based strategy, intuitive guidance, and genuinely uplifting energy in everything she does. As O’Connell will tell you, she brings seriously good vibes to everything she does.
O’Connell’s The Lab Wellness clients run the gamut, from moms and dads to senior citizens, and large corporations in the surrounding area and New York City.
Each class, session, retreat, and guided meditation is created from the belief that caring for yourself should feel nourishing — not like another box to check. O’Connell takes most pride in the classes she holds right here in Putnam County.
She holds classes for the Town of Carmel Recreation Department, and the response has been so positive that O’Connell plans on running some for free.
“If I help one person through meditation, that is all I want to do.” she said.
Residents can attend Lindsey's sound baths and meditation classes around the area or book private or group meditation, sound bath, reiki, or intuitive coaching sessions with her. For more information about The Lab Wellness, email
