What is your favorite place to visit in Putnam County?? (April Edition)
We asked our followers on Facebook and Instagram, what is your favorite place to visit in Putnam County, and we got some great responses.
Each month we will want to hear from you on your favorite places to visit (attractions, historical sites, restaurants, shops etc.) and we will highlight them.
Plan a visit to the following followers’ suggestions:
1) Michael Ciaiola Conservation Area
This conservation area consists of over 800 acres and is Putnam County’s largest. The property was once owned by Walter G. Merritt. It was previously known as Merritt Park and consisted of around 600 acres. Explore this 5.7-mile loop trail near Patterson, New York. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 7 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, snowshoeing, and running.

2) Breakneck Ridge
Located in the Hudson Highlands State Park, Breakneck Ridge is a popular and challenging hiking destination known for its breathtaking views and steep terrain. The trail, which spans about 1.6 miles, offers hikers a strenuous ascent with rocky scrambles, leading to stunning panoramic vistas of the Hudson River and surrounding mountains.

3) Mundane
Cold Spring’ custom scent bar & retail candle shop.
Mundane’s scent bar seats 6 guests at a time and are happy to accept walk-ins, but availability may be limited on certain days/times.

◊ Freight House Café
Built in the spring of 1872, The Freight House was the first building constructed for the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad branch. This line serviced freight and passengers from Golden's Bridge to Grand Central Terminal for more than 50 years. Dine under the trees during the week from 9am-3pm and Friday nights 7pm-10pm on their outdoor deck which is right off the North County bike trail. Dogs are welcome on the outside deck only.
