Putnam County, PCSEA Come to 5 Year Agreement
CARMEL, NY – Earlier this month, Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne signed the resolution approving the five-year Memorandum of Agreement with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Employment Association (PCSEA) The resolution, signed by County Executive Byrne earlier today, was unanimously approved by the County Legislature on Tuesday, December 3rd. The agreement will run from January 1st, 2024, to December 31st, 2028.
The agreement was successfully negotiated by County Executive Byrne and members of his administration, Sheriff Kevin McConville, and representatives of the PCSEA. Officials from Putnam County and the PCSEA held meetings throughout the summer before coming to terms on a fiscally responsible agreement that meets the needs of the employees of the PCSEA.
“I am excited to sign this agreement and appreciate all the efforts of the parties involved who got this done,” said County Executive Byrne. The men and women of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Employment Association are devoted members of the law enforcement community, and this agreement reflects our continued commitment to support their work for our county. Thank you to Sheriff McConville, PCSEA leadership and its members, and representatives from my administration for their efforts to come to a fair agreement.
Putnam County Sheriff Kevin McConville expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts, saying, “This agreement is a testament to the strong partnership between the County, the Sheriff’s Office, and the members of the PCSEA. It ensures that our deputies and law enforcement personnel are supported in their essential mission of protecting the residents of Putnam County. I want to thank County Executive Byrne, the Legislature, and the PCSEA for their commitment to achieving this positive outcome.”
PCSEA President Ismael Matias also praised the agreement and the process, stating, “This contract is the result of good-faith negotiations and mutual respect. It provides our members with the resources and support they need to perform their critical duties while maintaining fiscal responsibility for our community. I want to thank County Executive Byrne, Sheriff McConville, and the County Legislature for recognizing the hard work and dedication of the PCSEA members who serve Putnam County every day.”
The agreement underscores the shared commitment of Putnam County and its law enforcement community to ensuring public safety, while providing fair compensation and benefits to the members of the PCSEA.
