Byrne Takes Questions from Residents at Open Forums
CARMEL, NY – Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne has concluded his latest round of “Conversations with the County Executive” forums, capping off the series with well-attended gatherings at Nelsonville Village Hall and Carmel Diner.
These informal forums, held at locations across Putnam County, are designed to give residents direct access to County leadership in a relaxed, conversational setting. Over coffee and refreshments, Byrne answered questions, discussed county initiatives, and heard feedback from constituents on a wide range of issues ranging from taxes and infrastructure to energy and environmental concerns.
“These forums are some of the most valuable conversations we have,” said Byrne. “They give residents an opportunity to speak directly with their County Executive, ask questions, share ideas, and make their voices heard. That kind of accessibility is critical to building trust and delivering a government that works for the people.”
The final two sessions continued the strong engagement seen throughout the series, with residents raising thoughtful questions and offering input that will help shape future county initiatives. Byrne provided updates on key priorities, including tax relief efforts, infrastructure improvements, and expanded services for residents.
This series and others like it including Trailblazing with Byrne and Talking in the Library, are part of Byrne’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accessibility, and open government. Since taking office, Byrne has prioritized opportunities for direct public engagement, including town halls, livestreamed meetings, and community presentations across the county.
“Good government starts with listening,” Byrne added. “Whether it’s at a senior center, a town hall, or over a cup of coffee, we’re committed to meeting people where they are and making sure their concerns are heard.”
Residents who were unable to attend are encouraged to stay engaged through the County’s website and social media channels, where updates on future events and initiatives will be posted.

Welcome Message
“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M.
