Byrne Brings ‘State of the County’ Directly to Residents
CARMEL – Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne continued his State of the County tour yesterday with a presentation at the William Koehler Memorial Senior Center in Mahopac, marking the 5th stop in his countywide State of the County initiative focused on transparency and accessibility.
The visit is part of Byrne’s commitment, first outlined in his March 3 State of the County address at Ace Endico headquarters, to deliver information directly to residents in every corner of the county. Yesterday’s event was hosted in partnership with the Putnam County Office for Senior Resources and featured a condensed version of Byrne’s address followed by a robust Q&A session. The County Executive answered dozens of questions from attendees, covering everything from public safety to taxes and transportation services.
“These visits are about more than just delivering a speech—they’re about hearing directly from residents and responding to their needs,” said Byrne. “We’re making progress, including cutting property taxes and making government more efficient, and I want to make sure every community understands what we’ve accomplished and what’s ahead.”
In addition to the senior centers, Byrne has expanded his on-the-road series to include local town board meetings. Just last night, he presented at the Carmel Town Board meeting, and earlier this month he addressed the Southeast Town Board. These appearances allow for direct communication between the County Executive and local municipal leaders and residents.
The final stop in the senior center series will be on April 23 at the Putnam Valley Friendship Center starting at 10:30 a.m.
All presentations are livestreamed and later posted to the County’s YouTube channel to ensure countywide access.

Welcome Message
“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M.
