Byrne Concludes “State of the County on the Road” Senior Center Tour, Adds Two Additional Community Stops
CARMEL, NY - Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne has wrapped up this year’s “State of the County on the Road” presentations at senior centers across Putnam County, bringing a condensed version of his annual State of the County message directly to residents in communities throughout the county.
Over the past several weeks, Byrne visited senior centers in Cold Spring, Carmel, Mahopac at the William Koehler Memorial Senior Center, and Putnam Valley, meeting with residents to discuss county priorities, accomplishments, and future initiatives while answering questions in an open forum setting.
The presentations highlighted key themes from Byrne’s 2026 State of the County Address, including affordability, infrastructure investment, public safety, mental health services, transportation improvements, and continued efforts to make county government more transparent and accessible.
“Government works best when it meets people where they are,” said Byrne. “These presentations are an opportunity to bring county government directly into our communities, share what we’ve accomplished together, and hear firsthand from residents about the issues that matter most to them. Our senior centers are gathering places filled with engaged residents who care deeply about Putnam County, and I’m grateful for the warm reception at every stop.”
The countywide series was organized in partnership with the Putnam County Office for Senior Resources and was designed to make Byrne’s annual address more accessible through smaller, community-based discussions.
Due to strong attendance and positive feedback, Byrne announced that two additional presentations will be added to the schedule:
- Mahopac Seniors Club — Wednesday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department
- Patterson Seniors Lunch — Tuesday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Patterson Recreation Center, 65 Front Street, Patterson
“These conversations don’t end with one speech or one event,” Byrne added. “I want residents to have opportunities to ask questions, share concerns, and stay connected to the work their county government is doing every day.”
The “State of the County on the Road” series builds upon Byrne’s ongoing commitment to public engagement through community forums, town hall-style meetings, and expanded access to county information.

Welcome Message
“Remember that Putnam County is home. Regardless of what may make us different as individuals, it is our respect for each-other as neighbors, our desire to step up and serve, to lend a hand, and leave this beautiful county better off than we found it. That is what makes this place so special. It is with that in mind that we as a county government are here to serve, and will always serve, with a desire to do better.” - Kevin M.
