Putnam County St Patricks Day Senior Luncheons Draw Crowds of Hundreds
CARMEL, NY – The Putnam County Office for Senior Resources (OSR) once again delivered a spectacular celebration for the County’s older adults, hosting three days of St. Patrick’s Day luncheons at the Putnam County Golf Course. With about 470 seniors in attendance over the course of 3 days, the event featured delicious food, lively entertainment, and an opportunity for seniors to connect with county officials and friends in a festive setting.
Attendees enjoyed a nutritious Irish meal while dancing and singing along to performances from the beloved musical duo “Sounds Familiar.” Adding to the celebration, County Executive Kevin Byrne played the bagpipes each day, filling the room with the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day.
“This event is always a highlight of the year for our senior community, and it was an absolute pleasure to celebrate with them once again,” said County Executive Byrne. “Seeing so many familiar faces, sharing stories, and playing the bagpipes for our seniors is something I truly enjoy. Our Office for Senior Resources does an incredible job organizing these luncheons, and I thank them for their dedication to making Putnam County a welcoming and vibrant place for our older adults.”
OSR Director Marlene Barrett echoed Byrne’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of these gatherings. “Our St. Patrick’s Day luncheons are a cherished tradition, bringing seniors together for a joyful celebration filled with music, laughter, and camaraderie. It’s heartwarming to see so many members of our community enjoying themselves, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make these events such a success.”
The luncheons continue to be a favorite event for Putnam’s senior residents, providing them with a chance to engage with county officials, enjoy live entertainment, and celebrate in a warm and welcoming environment. The Office for Senior Resources remains committed to hosting meaningful programs that enrich the lives of Putnam County’s older adults throughout the year.
